Healthcare organizations across Louisiana joined forces on the first statewide launch of MyChart Central, giving patients a single, secure way to access their medical records, communicate with care teams, and manage their care.
Many Louisianans receive care from multiple providers and across parish lines. Statewide MyChart Central means they can now have:
One MyChart login.
Patients can use a single Epic ID to sign in to MyChart for all Louisiana organizations using Epic—without needing to keep track of multiple usernames and passwords.
Password-free convenience.
With support for passkeys and biometrics like face and fingerprint, patients can securely sign in without remembering passwords.
Synced profile information.
When patients move or get a new phone number, they can update MyChart Central once. Updates sync to the other organizations where they receive care—saving time and reducing the need to fill out repetitive forms.
Simpler patient-driven interoperability.
A single Epic ID makes it easier for patients to securely share their medical information with health apps they choose.
“Being first in healthcare technology is another example of Louisiana leaning in to improve healthcare for our entire state,” Bruce Greenstein, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health said. “Too often, the burden is placed on the patient, and I’m thankful that many of our health systems teamed up, worked together, and made an aspect of healthcare easier on our patients.”
Today, over 2.5 million Louisianans use MyChart to manage their care, access test results, schedule and check in for appointments, message their providers, request prescription refills, pay bills, and more. MyChart Central simplifies the user experience they already know with a single sign-in and a united view across organizations.
The coordinated MyChart Central activation reflects deep collaboration across all Louisiana healthcare organizations using Epic:
“This collaboration advances our shared goals of simplifying patient access to their health information, which allows better preventive care and faster follow up care,” Secretary Greenstein said. “It also allows us to pursue our commitment with CMS to improve our health tech ecosystem.”
Louisiana’s statewide launch follows an initial activation of MyChart Central in Madison, Wisconsin, where health systems collaborated on a citywide go-live. Later this year, the capability will expand nationwide, allowing patients across the U.S. to connect their MyChart accounts through one Epic ID.
“Health systems throughout Louisiana came together to deliver a simpler, more connected experience for patients,” Trevor Berceau, Director of R&D at Epic said. “Louisiana is leading the way and helping to shape how MyChart Central helps people everywhere.”
Baton Rouge General
“The better we’re getting with technology, the more patients expect easier, faster access to their healthcare, and MyChart Central helps make that possible,” Bennett Cheramie, Chief Information Officer at Baton Rouge General said. “It can be a game changer for patients and families who see doctors in different hospitals, and for hospitals working to connect care more seamlessly.”
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System
“MyChart Central gives our patients a single view of their medical records and is a big step to simplify digital healthcare for Louisianians,” Will Landry, SVP and Chief Information Officer at FMOLHS said.

Partnering with other leading health systems across the state makes this initiative even more impactful, as together we’re transforming how Louisianans connect with their care teams and health records.”
North Oaks Health System
“Joining Epic MyChart Central allows our patients to easily view their medical history, medication lists, and lab results all in one place,” Michael Watkins, Chief Operating Officer at North Oaks Health System said. “For our community, reducing the need for multiple portals means less confusion and more confidence in managing their health—directly improving the patient experience in our system.”
Ochsner Health

This spirit of collaboration in the launch of MyChart Central is a great example of how we can improve the health and wellness of our communities through partnership and collaboration.”
St. Tammany Parish Hospital
“St. Tammany Health System has long prioritized first-class patient experience, just as it has long prioritized innovation. The new MyChart Central initiative and its single sign-on capabilities, as we see it, present an opportunity to address both,” St. Tammany Health System Chief Information Officer Craig Doyle said. “It’s simple: Streamlining our patients’ care improves that care. That’s something we at St. Tammany are excited about – and we are just as excited to link arms with the other healthcare institutions throughout the state who were forward-thinking enough to be part of this first-in-the-nation initiative.”
Terrebonne General Health System
“In 2017, we led the launch of Epic, and today, we continue to be at the forefront of innovation—collaborating with our health system partners across Louisiana to enhance patients’ access to their healthcare information in the state and beyond,” Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO at Terrebonne General Health System said. “This marks a significant advancement in empowering patients with the critical information they need to better manage their health and make informed decisions in connection with their physicians.”
