Sharing Your Data

How can I use MyChart Central to give an app access to my data?

You might be able to use MyChart Central to give an app access to your health information across multiple healthcare organizations at the same time. This is useful if you receive care from more than one organization and want to share your information from all of them with a single app.

To give an app access to your health information using MyChart Central:

  1. When a supported app requests access to your information, log in to MyChart with your Epic ID.
  2. If you want to edit what information types to share, select Edit what will be shared.
  3. You can also remove any organizations you don’t want to share your health information from by selecting the Edit your healthcare organizations button.
  4. The default sharing period is one year. To choose a different sharing period, select the Edit access time button.
  5. To confirm, select Share Data button. The app can then access your information from all of the organizations you chose to share information from.

Sharing your information from multiple organizations using MyChart Central might not be supported by your app or organization. You can still use your Epic ID to share information from each linked organization one at a time if the workflow is not supported.

Can I choose different information types or access times for different organizations?

To edit information or access time settings to be different for each organization you are sharing information from, log in using your organization’s username and password instead of your Epic ID in the app’s sharing workflow.

Why can't I see all of my organizations when sharing health information through MyChart Central?

Only organizations that are linked to your MyChart Central account and support the app appear in the list. If an organization is missing, it might not support this feature. Make sure all of your MyChart accounts are linked by going to the Link My Accounts activity in MyChart Central.
